7th January

Diaries across the generations from 1965, 1969 and 1974


1974 (Mum 46/ Me 18)
Mum –Went to get Cluedo with Hilary at G.S Chap[?]. Gary started at Esso.  Hair with Meg at 2.15.  Nick and Gary recorded song for Elton John.  Hilary went to Girls B.
Me – Monday – In morn Started work at Fawley. Computer Op Trainee. Rick, Ken & Bob in. Nice blokes went up pub with Ken. In evening Nick & I sent tape off to Elton John post it tomorrow.

1969 (Mum 41/ Me 13)
Mum - none
Me – In morning Mum took bugs to school.  I didn't have to go till ten. Got birthday card from A Vi & U.Bert. Had service at St.James church.  Had to make dinner beans on toast with bacon.  In afternoon had normal stuff.  Played soccer till 5.  Good day.  Mum went to W.Watchers. Dad went for walk.

1965 (Mum 37/ Me 9)
Mum – none
Me – got up 8.30 got 10/- [50p - 10 shillings old money] from A Vie U Bert feel alwrigth. First time in bath

Preface gives Objects, Structure of the Guild and hints from NUTG advisors on starting up Drama, Music, Social Studies and Arts and Crafts Groups
During the above years mum was looking after myself, my sister 8 years younger and brother 13

1965 (10) Letts School-Boys Diary
Still at Infant/Primary School.  Diary quite comprehensive giving facts on First Aid, Atomic Energy, 34 question quiz, books to read (none of which I’ve ever read), Pets, Countries of the World, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Animal Facts, Finding your way by the Sun, in fact a whole mini-book in itself.

1969 (14) Dataday Diary Gives Mileage Chart, Sun & Moon settings and phases, Wine vintage chart, clothing sizes, conversion tables and car details
Films watched this year King Kong, Carry On Up The Kyber, Bullitt, Talk Of The Devil, Carry On Cowboy, Carry On Spying, What’s Good For The Goose, The Violent Ones, Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines, Sparticus, Carry On Camping, Hell Is Emply, 100 Rifles, Carry On Cleo, Carry On Screaming, Monte Carlo Or Bust, Once Upon A Time In The West, The Great Escape, The Longest Day, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Winnie The Pooh, Where Eagles Dare
