Diaries across the generations from 1965, 1969 and 1974


1974 (Mum 46/ Me 19) Thursday
Mum – Friends in for coffee.  Hilary not a lot better.  Dennis had lunch at the Civil Service Club.  Good evening at Guild.
Me - Wretched day. Rain & Wind. Went up club at dinner with Roger [?] & Ken. Medical tomorrow. In evening Mum went to W.G. Meeting [Womens Guild]. Dad to lodge practice. Hil better than yesterday. Watched tele.

1969 (Mum 41/ Me 14) Friday
Mum - none
Me – In [morn] had hockey on tarmac we're champs of tennis courts. Me, Pinky, Ramon.  At dinner after got two pairs of socks 16's [?].  In afternoon got Ernie good fun. In evening went to bed at 9.0. Got Spanish Guitar off Dave

1965 (Mum 37/ Me 10) Sunday
Mum – none
Me - made new track made station. David and Mary [friends from old house] came to look at new house

Fritz Lang's Metropolis premieres  [A month before Mum was born]

Preface gives Objects, Structure of the Guild and hints from NUTG advisors on starting up Drama, Music, Social Studies and Arts and Crafts Groups
During the above years mum was looking after myself, my sister 8 years younger and brother 13

1965 (10) Letts School-Boys Diary
Still at Infant/Primary School.  Diary quite comprehensive giving facts on First Aid, Atomic Energy, 34 question quiz, books to read (none of which I’ve ever read), Pets, Countries of the World, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Animal Facts, Finding your way by the Sun, in fact a whole mini-book in itself.

1969 (14) Dataday Diary Gives Mileage Chart, Sun & Moon settings and phases, Wine vintage chart, clothing sizes, conversion tables and car details
Films watched this year King Kong, Carry On Up The Kyber, Bullitt, Talk Of The Devil, Carry On Cowboy, Carry On Spying, What’s Good For The Goose, The Violent Ones, Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines, Sparticus, Carry On Camping, Hell Is Emply, 100 Rifles, Carry On Cleo, Carry On Screaming, Monte Carlo Or Bust, Once Upon A Time In The West, The Great Escape, The Longest Day, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Winnie The Pooh, Where Eagles Dare
